Add an inbound number

An inbound number lets your AI assistant answer incoming calls 24/7 — greeting the caller, qualifying them, and booking or transferring as needed.

How inbound works

When someone calls your number, the call is routed to your assistant. The assistant answers, runs the conversation, and the call is transcribed and evaluated when it ends.

Provision a number

  1. Open Phone numbers from the sidebar.
  2. Select Add number and search by country or area code.
  3. Order the number. Outhub provisions it with your team and sets up the inbound trunk and dispatch rule.

The selected telephony provider is stored on the number, so routing stays consistent after provisioning.

Assign an assistant

  1. Open the number you just added.
  2. Set it as an inbound number.
  3. Choose the assistant that should answer incoming calls.

Only published assistants can answer live calls, so publish the assistant first if you have not already.

Verify inbound

  1. Call the number from a phone.
  2. Confirm the assistant answers with its first message and holds a natural conversation.
  3. Open Call logs to review the transcript, recording, and evaluation for the test call.

If the call does not connect, confirm the number is active and an assistant is assigned, then try again.
